Over the years, Hui Okinawa Kobudo Taiko has steadily grown into a vibrant group of over 25 active members that performs an average of twice a month. “Art Helps” Annual benefit sale for the Hawaii Island Humane Society hosted at High Fire Hawaii Gallery and Studio, 114 Kamehameha Ave on Bayfront in Downtown Hilo.  Items in benefit sale include ceramics, art, jewelry, and many more items, all handmade by Big Island artists.  On-site animal adoptions will also be available.  9:00 am – 5:00 pm. ON-GOING EVENTS

Hilo Farmer's Market is open every day 7AM-4PM downtown and has numerous special events and performances. Every Wednesday and Saturday 6AM-4PM over 200 local farmers and craftsman fill the market. Check their website for the Second-hand Sundays and Market Music schedules.

Planetarium Shows daily and special evening shows at 'Imiloa Astronomy Center

A Hilo Running group meets every Wednesday at 5:00pm and every Saturday at 6:30. They start and end the run from the Big Island Running Company on Hilo Bayfront at 308 Kamehameha Ave, Suite 105 - two doors down from Cafe Pesto. Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome.

Hilo Hula Days and Hilo Improvement Program - Tuesdays are HIP in Hilo with Free workshops and gatherings at the Mo'oheau Bandstand in downtown Hilo from 5:30-6:30PM. This program is funded by Americorps to June 2013. HIP has a facebook page with happenings around Hilo.
